SIBURAN: The local community is urged to be agents of economic change by fully utilising their knowledge and skills.
Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn said skills not only have the potential to generate additional income for families, but also to enhance the competitiveness of rural communities and boost the local economy sustainably.
“Skills education is vital in providing a second chance for adults who have missed out on formal education, enabling them to acquire knowledge and competencies that can improve their livelihoods and empower their communities,” he said when officiating the Quickwin Professional Makeup Skills Course organised by Puncak Borneo Parliamentary KEMAS at Kampung Lintang Baru Multipurpose Hall here recently.
Sagah, who is also Tarat assemblyman, said the course aligns with the government’s vision of developing human capital and entrepreneurship.
“It is intended to build upon skills gained from existing classes, offering targeted groups the opportunity to upgrade their expertise, particularly in the professional makeup field, which has strong market potential, while diversifying income streams to help families earn more,” he added.
Sagah said that the initiative also aims to nurture pioneering entrepreneurs in the PICO, NANO and MICRO categories, equipping them to be competitive and to progress in both domestic and international markets.
