KUCHING: Kuching City FC have begun their Malaysia Super League 2025/2026 campaign in style with a commanding 4-0 victory over Kelantan The Real Warriors, impressing assistant head coach Zulkarnien Mohamad Poasa.
Zulkarnien praised the team’s unity and preparation after Wanja Ronald Ngah netted twice, Joao Pedro Da Silva scored once, and Ramadhan Saifullah sealed the win in the 93rd minute.
“Our team is still new, so they are learning to understand each other. Alhamdulillah, the players gave 100 per cent including the substitutes.
“We are taking things step by step, building positive momentum,” he told reporters at the Sarawak State Stadium last night (Aug 9).
Zulkarnien believes this gradual build-up is key to their early success in the league campaign.
On Ronald’s impact, he added the striker’s experience proved invaluable.
“He hadn’t played for a long time, but he showed his quality by scoring twice. His experience was crucial tonight,” he said.
Kuching City will face Brunei DPPM away next in the Malaysia FA Cup Round of 16 on Aug 16 at 8.15 pm.
