SAMARAHAN: Local football talents here are seizing their chance to shine as the Samarahan Division Football Association (PBBS) wraps up its first round of player selections for the 2025 Sarawak Premier League.
The trials, which began on Aug 2, were held at four venues including the new Simunjan Stadium (Aug 2), SK Pendam Field (Aug 3), Kampung Sambir Field (Aug 9), and the Kota Samarahan Mini Stadium (Aug 10).
A total of 57 players from various age groups took part, showcasing their skills and determination to earn a place in the team.
From this pool, the top 30 players will advance to a second selection session at the Kota Samarahan Mini Stadium, where the final Samarahan FA squad will be formed for the league campaign kicking off in September.
PBBS president Mohammad Azri Johari said the initiative not only identifies potential players but also strengthens grassroots football development in the division.
“We encourage all eligible and interested local players to attend the selection sessions, as this league provides each division in Sarawak with the chance to unearth its best talents regardless of age.
“However, players from other divisions are not permitted,” he said in a statement yesterday (Aug 10).
Also present at the final first-round selection session were Samarahan FA Head Coach 1, Abang Rili Abang Saadili, and Assistant Coach 2, Teruna Jeman.
The 2025 Sarawak Premier League will be contested in a home-and-away format, with each team representing its respective division.
