KUCHING: Kuching Got Talent represents more than just entertainment, it is a platform where dreams are discovered, where talents are revealed, and where our shared values of inclusion and unity come to life, says Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian.
The Deputy Premier added that, what was presented yesterday, is not just a showcase of talent, it is a vibrant celebration of creativity, courage, and the unbreakable spirit of community.
“The energy in this theatre is electrifying and it speaks volumes about the kind of future we are building together in Kuching and throughout Sarawak.
“This is what the government’s principle of ‘No One Left Behind’ looks like in action. Every performer on this stage, whether a child, a teenager, a senior citizen, or a person with disabilities, has been given the space to shine.
“Here, everyone matters. Here, everyone belongs,” he said in his speech read by MBKS mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng at the 11th year of Kuching Got Talent, in conjunction with Kuching Festival, at the MBKS ground, here yesterday.
He also applauded MBKS for organising such an event based on community-driven action, that involved everyone, young, old, and even less fortunate people.
“Far beyond managing roads, drains, and public spaces, MBKS has once again shown its commitment to nurturing the soul of our city — its people. This council exemplifies visionary leadership and community-driven action, and tonight is a testament to that.

“Our youth, vibrant, creative, and full of promise are not only the leaders of tomorrow, they are the heartbeat of today. When we create safe and empowering spaces like this, we allow them to rise with confidence and courage. And in doing so, we set the foundation for a brighter, more dynamic Sarawak.
“But this should not stop at one event. Let this be a model for more. Let’s transform our community halls, public spaces, and youth hubs into places that pulse with creativity, filled with music, dance, art, and joy. These are the spaces where talent grows, where confidence is born, and where communities are strengthened,” he said and praised all performers who took to the stage, not only entertaining everyone but have given all the inspirations.
“So let us move forward together — policymakers, educators, parents, civil society, and citizens — united in purpose, determined to build an inclusive, creative, and resilient Sarawak. Together, let us continue to invest in our people and in platforms that celebrate the best of who we are”.
Meanwhile, Councillor Albert Tay said with the strong leadership of Wee, not only has Kuching Got Talent grown from strength to strength, but so many events in Kuching Festival 2025 this year reached new heights and records.
“Mayor, your vision and ability to unite people is something I truly admire and respect.”
