Three popular female singers – Aina Abdul, Ernie Zakri, and Dayang Nurfaizah – are set to dominate the 24th Anugerah Industri Muzik (AIM 24) awards show, each earning nine nominations.
Aina and Ernie received nods in various categories, including Best Female Vocal Performance, Best Soundtrack, Best Pop Song, Best Collaboration between Local Artiste and International Artiste/Composer, and Best Single/Album Cover.
Dayang Nurfaizah was nominated in categories such as Best Traditional Song and Best Musical Arrangement. She was also listed in the Best Album category alongside Aina and Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza.
Aina, Ernie, and Dayang Nurfaizah are also competing in the Best Engineered Album and Best Engineered Song categories.
Siti Nurhaliza and Hazama each earned six nominations, including in the Best Vocal Performance and Best Traditional Song categories.
AIM organising committee chairman, Rosmin Hashim, said this year’s event saw an increase in participation, with 862 nominations compared to 650 in the previous edition.
He said 132 professionals from various backgrounds were appointed as judges to evaluate and score all nominations across the 30 contested categories.
“Judging for the top five finalists in each category was carried out in July through several phases, while the final judging session for the Best Song category took place on July 29.
“What we are presenting today is the Top 5 list of nominees with the highest scores, and on September 13, the winners of AIM 24 will be announced,” he said at a press conference recently.
Among the judges involved in selecting the finalists were Datuk Acis, Datuk Syafinaz Selamat, Datuk Yusof Haslam, and Erma Fatima, with Datuk Mokhzani Ismail serving as chief judge.
AIM 24 winners will receive prizes worth RM700,000, allocated by the Ministry of Communications through the Creative Content Fund.
The awards ceremony will take place on September 13 at the Arena of Stars, Genting Highlands, and will be broadcast live on TV2 and RTM Klik. – BERNAMA
