KANOWIT: Students in the Kanowit district have been urged to take full advantage of educational and career opportunities available through academic, technical and vocational fields.

Ngemah State Assemblyman, Anyi Jana, made the call during the opening of the Sarawak Education Expo at the district level, held at SJKC Yee Ting Hall on Saturday.

Anyi said the expo provides an important platform for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) students, as well as school leavers, to explore sponsorship, assistance, and wider career pathways.

“Institutions such as Universiti Teknologi Sarawak (UTS), CENTEXS, and Sarawak Skills provide students with valuable opportunities to develop their potential.

“Sarawak is also focusing on emerging sectors such as the green economy, renewable energy, carbon capture technology, hydrogen, ICT, and sustainable tourism. The younger generation must be ready to excel in these areas,” he said.

He added that students’ success depends on their own effort, initiative, and innovation, in addition to the opportunities available.

Anyi also praised the Sarawak Foundation and all exhibiting agencies for their role in empowering the education of the younger generation.

Organised by the Sarawak Foundation in collaboration with the Kanowit District Education Office, the expo drew around 300 participants.

The event also featured educational and career exhibitions by government and private agencies to provide information to students and parents.
