BINTULU: The 2025 Charity Golf Tournament, held to mark the 50th anniversary of the Lions Club of Bintulu Host, had showcased how sport can unite communities while fostering a culture of giving back to society.
Tanjong Batu Assemblyman, Johnny Pang Leong Ming, said the tournament symbolised the strength of cooperation between the local community, club members and golfers in ensuring the success of charitable efforts.
“Half a century of service by the Lions Club of Bintulu Host is a very proud achievement. This tournament is not just about celebrating golf, but also the spirit of giving which brings benefits to the people of Bintulu,” he said.
His said this at the closing and prize-giving ceremony of the 2025 Charity Golf Tournament, organised at the Bintulu Golf Club on Saturday in conjunction with the Lions Club of Bintulu Host’s 50th anniversary.
During the event, Pang also sponsored a Hole-in-One prize worth RM10,000, which will be channelled for the club’s charity projects.
“There is no loss; instead, it is a gain for the community. This is the true purpose of us gathering – making sports a bridge for charity,” he said.
Pang also congratulated the winners and called on the Lions Club members to continue implementing projects in education, health, welfare and community development.
