LUNDU: The Sarawak Government, through the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA), is advancing rural infrastructure with Phase 2 of the RM10.6-million House-to-House Road Surfacing Project in Opar.
The project site handover ceremony, involving three locations – Kampung Biawak, Kampung Serayan Hulu, and Kampung Raso 1 – was officiated by Opar Assemblyman Billy Sujang recently.
Billy said the project will have a significant impact on the people by providing safer, more comfortable, and more durable road access.
Good road access not only addresses the basic mobility issue but also enhances local economic activities and improves the standard of living of the community, he said.
Out of the total allocation, RM3 million is for Jalan Biawak, RM3 million for Jalan Bau-Lundu, and RM4.6 million for Jalan Lundu-Sematan.
He also emphasised that development priorities in Opar constituency will continue to focus on basic infrastructure, while urging contractors to carry out the project with integrity and quality for the long-term benefit of the community.
Over the past 38 months, a total of 111 projects have been implemented in the area through GKCDA funds, reflecting fast and focused efforts in rural development.
