KUCHING: The Ex-Students of Tanjung Lobang College (TLC) Welfare Association successfully hosted its second High Tea Casual Gathering at Samudera Hotel here on Saturday, bringing together alumni to reconnect and strengthen ties.
The association, officially registered with the Registrar of Societies (ROS) in October 2018, was founded to extend assistance to the underprivileged and those in need across Sarawak.
According to a media statement, the organising chairman, Zainudin Latip, welcomed more than 40 attendees, including one of TLC’s earliest students, Howard Jilan, better known as Dahlan Badar, who first enrolled in 1957.
Association president, Datuk Mohammed Sepuan Anu, shared an overview of the organisation, while deputy president, Datin Zahrah Bujang, highlighted its past activities and upcoming programmes.
Vice president I, Dr Sulaiman Sahari, and vice president II, Donny Yong, who also chairs the Kolej Tun Datuk Tuanku Haji Bujang Alumni Association, outlined future plans, including a joint Fundraising Charity Dinner scheduled for 2026 here.
Furthermore, the event marked a milestone with nine new members recruited.
Membership is open to all former students, with fees set at RM10 for registration, RM20 annually, or a one-time payment of RM50 for life membership.
The association is also exploring a merger with the Kolej TDT Hj Bujang Alumni Association, pending approval from the Registrar of Societies (ROS).
The event was deemed a success, fulfilling its objectives of promoting the association while encouraging greater participation among alumni.
The welfare association looks forward to organising more similar gatherings in the future as part of its commitment to serving both its members and the wider community.
