KUCHING: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Supreme Council member, Wilson Nyabong Ijang, reiterated that he is not challenging anyone but is offering himself as a candidate for the party presidency.

Nyabong, who is also the Pelagus Assemblyman, said he reaffirmed his decision to contest the presidency in the party’s upcoming Triennial Delegates Conference (TDC).

“During my visits to the party’s divisions, I have been very inspired by the support received.

“I am not challenging anyone. But I am offering myself forward for the consideration of the party members and delegates.

“They can decide on who shall be given the mandate to lead the party,” he told Sarawak Tribune today.

He added that PRS has always upheld the principle of open contests in its TDC, with the only exception being when the party observed a no-contest to honour the late president, Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing.

“This year’s TDC will see an open contest for all elected posts, a move that upholds the party’s long-standing tradition since its establishment,” he said.

He therefore said that he is looking forward to the party’s upcoming TDC where delegates will decide on a new leadership team.
