KUCHING: The Sarawak under-19 women’s cricket team clinched bronze at the 2025 Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA) Under-19 Women’s T20 Championship.

The victory was secured after defeating Pahang in the playoff match at Bayuemas Oval, Klang.

Beyond the team success, Sarawak also achieved individual accolades, with Hilva Nuraulia Siami Lukman being named Best Batter of the tournament after scoring 159 runs in five matches, while Aina Umira Amin earned the Best Bowler title with 14 wickets in five matches.

Throughout the tournament, Sarawak displayed impressive form, emerging as champions of Group C with an unbeaten record after defeating Selangor, Kelantan, and Penang.

However, their hopes of reaching the final were dashed in the semifinals after falling to a more experienced Perak side.

Sarawak Cricket Association (SCA) vice president Victor Graman Renggian said in a statement that the achievement was the result of close cooperation with the Sarawak Sports Corporation, Sarawak State Sports Council, and the Sarawak State Education Department in implementing cricket development programmes across the state.

He was confident that this success would serve as an important platform to further strengthen the development of women’s cricket in Sarawak.
