KUCHING: Mambong Paintball Club (KPM) carved a historic achievement by bringing glory to Malaysia, particularly Sarawak, on the international stage after securing second place at the 2025 NXL European Championship held in Dreux, France, from Aug 27 to 31.

The K Troopers team finished as runners-up in Division 4 X-Ball, proving that local players have what it takes to compete against international teams at one of the world’s biggest paintball tournaments.

According to a statement, the championship drew more than 200 teams from 30 countries, making it one of the most competitive arenas for both professional and amateur paintball players.

Malaysia fielded a strong presence at the 2025 European Championship, with seven teams competing across different categories: Mambong Paintball Club (KPM) in Division 3 X-Ball, K Troopers and Unknown in Division 4 X-Ball, Thunderstorm in the WNXL 3v3, RASKAL Avengers and Sekito in the Amateur 3v3, and the Malaysia Women squad in the UPBF Women (Open) X-Ball.

Based in Mambong, Padawan, KPM is the first paintball club in Sarawak to hold an official operating licence and is registered with the Sports Commissioner of Malaysia.

The club has now further proven its capability by placing the nation on the map at the international level.

Malaysia’s team manager and captain, Muhammad Morsidi Abdullah, described the success as a special gift to the homeland in conjunction with Malaysia’s 68th National Day.

“This achievement is proof of the sacrifices and hard work of the team.

“We underwent intensive preparation, including strategic training and skills development, to ensure we could put up a strong fight before departing for France,” he said.

He added that the cold weather in France posed a major challenge to the players’ stamina and focus.

“Drizzling rain and strong winds caused lapses in concentration during several matches, but the team’s strong fighting spirit kept them pushing forward to success,” he said.

Muhammad Morsidi further expressed hope that this milestone would inspire the younger generation to take a greater interest in paintball, while also encouraging authorities and sponsors to recognise the vast potential of local teams on the world stage.
