Malaysia’s beloved animated characters, Upin and Ipin, have shared heartfelt prayers for the people of Indonesia as the nation continues to face ongoing turmoil.
The twins, adored by fans across the region, expressed hope that Indonesia will soon recover and its people remain safe from hardship.
“May our friends in Indonesia stay safe and at peace. Let us pray together for Indonesia’s swift recovery,” read a post on the official Instagram account, @upinipinofficial.
The post was accompanied by an image of the twin brothers looking sombre alongside their schoolmate from Indonesia, Susanti. The picture carried the words “Semoga Indonesia Segera Pulih” (May Indonesia Recover Soon), along with hashtags #UpinIpinDoaBuatIndonesia and #IndonesiaSegeraPulih, plus the logo of production house Les’ Copaque.
Even Ehsan, another character from the series, joined in by leaving a prayer in the comments. Fans across Indonesia were quick to thank both the characters and Les’ Copaque for their show of solidarity.

Joining the wave of support, another home-grown animated favourite, BoBoiBoy, also posted a message on his official Instagram account.
“Let us all pray together that our neighbour Indonesia will return to peace, harmony, and prosperity,” the post read.
Fans reacted emotionally, with some calling on Upin and Ipin to look after Susanti in Malaysia until the situation in Indonesia improves. “Please don’t let Susanti return just yet. Take good care of her,” one follower urged.
The characters’ messages come as Indonesia grapples with widespread protests sparked by public anger over rising allowances, housing benefits and salaries for members of parliament — further inflamed by a viral video of lawmakers dancing, seen as out of touch with the people’s struggles.
The demonstrations intensified after footage emerged of an e-hailing rider, Affan Kurniawan, being struck and run over by a police vehicle during a rally demanding fairer wages. In Jakarta, hundreds gathered outside the headquarters of the elite Brimob unit, blamed for the incident, before protests spread to other cities in recent days.
