ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates (UAE): Squad captain, Mikail ‘Miki’ Ghazali, led from the front and finished with gold, sealing a dream campaign for Malaysia at the 2025 IFMA Youth World Championships here on Thursday.
The 16-year-old, entrusted as skipper of the 21-strong national youth contingent, embraced the responsibility with composure beyond his years.
In the junior boys’ 15-16 under-63.5kg category, Miki proved why the armband was his, dictating fights with precision, pace and poise.
The SB repechage round against Australia’s Lincoln Davis was the culmination of his dominance.
Relentless in attack and calm under pressure, the Rentap Muay Thai Club fighter surged to a 20-18 lead before sealing the win with a head strike in the third round, as the referee stopped the contest due to safety concerns.
It was definitely the perfect captain’s performance for Miki: leading the team in spirit and delivering Malaysia’s golden moment at the world stage.
The IFMA World Muaythai Championships began on September 13 and concludes tomorrow (Saturday, Sept 20).
