KUCHING: Over 150 leaders from Sarawak’s public and private sectors are set to attend the Sarawak Corporate Leadership Summit 2025, which takes place from Oct 7 to 9 at Damai Lagoon Resort, Santubong.
The event, themed “Future-Ready Governance: Catalysing Collaborative Leadership for Sarawak’s Next Leap”, is organised by the Sarawak Centre of Performance Excellence (SCOPE) in collaboration with the Sarawak Transformation and Innovation Unit (STIU), the Sarawak State Secretary’s Office, the Sarawak Financial Secretary’s Office, the International Institute of Enterprise Risk Practitioners (IERP), and the Institute of Corporate Directors Malaysia (ICDM).
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg will open the summit, deliver a keynote address, and take part in a dialogue session outlining his strategic vision for empowering Sarawak’s government-linked companies (GLCs) and statutory bodies.
According to the organisers, the event supports the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 by positioning GLCs and statutory bodies as key drivers of economic resilience, sustainability, and global competitiveness.
Key focus areas of the summit include strengthening collaborative leadership between government and corporate entities; embedding governance practices that are agile and future-ready; enhancing financial sustainability and transparency of public institutions; accelerating digital transformation and adoption of ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) frameworks; learning from international case studies of successful corporate transformation.
“This summit marks a significant step in advancing Sarawak’s corporate leadership culture to meet global standards while staying rooted in local priorities,” SCOPE said in a press release.
With high-level participation expected from policymakers, industry experts, and leaders of statutory bodies and GLCs, the summit is being hailed as a catalyst for a more robust, future-oriented governance ecosystem in Sarawak.
