KUCHING: Sarawak athletes turned the 400m hurdles into a showcase of home dominance after sweeping the podium in both men’s and women’s finals at the 2025 Borneo Games Kuching (BGK) today.
In the men’s event, Muhamad Qarliff Kuyt Abdullah surged to gold with a winning time of 54.69s at Stadium Negeri.
Teammate Stevensie Win Simon followed for silver in 55.47s, while Sebastian JoeSimon crossed third in 57.88s to complete the clean sweep.
The women’s final delivered an identical outcome as Mandy Goh Li clinched gold in 65.90s.
Natalia Abby Uding Simon secured silver in 70.55s, while Maryance Mening Adrian sealed bronze with a time of 73.91s.
The back-to-back sweeps added significantly to Sarawak’s medal haul and strengthened its position as a force in athletics, particularly in hurdling disciplines.
Roared on by an appreciative home crowd, the young hurdlers’ efforts reflected both the depth and hunger within Sarawak’s track and field squad.
