KUCHING: Sabah’s mixed 4×400 metres relay team claimed gold and set a new Borneo Games record of 3:33.11.

The quartet comprised Hizillawanty Jamain, Muhammad Khalil Helmi, Chelsea Cassiopea Evali Bopulas, and Pengiran Aidil Auf.

Silver went to Sarawak’s team of Phelbian Bunyat Peter Ngumbang, Maryance Mening Adrian, Muhamad Irsyad Nabil Ismail, and Danea Humairah Syarman Sufry, who finished in 3:45.86.

Another Sarawak team, consisting of Mosmilian Astute Malam, Catherine Indun Beji, Luis Lesxander Jonathan, and Agnes Enya Mosly, secured bronze with a time of 3:46.05.

In the men’s 3,000m steeplechase, East Kalimantan’s Akbar Tanjung extended his dominance in long-distance events by setting a Games Record of 10:11.95. Akbar also set the Games record for 1500m and 5000m

Sarawakians Ryan Victor Bigger and Mohammad Al Sharqiman Moslim finished second and third with times of 10:30.39 and 10:50.99, respectively in the men’s 3,000m steeplechase.

Additionally, national athlete Jackie Siew Cheer Wong, representing Sarawak, set a Games record of 61.63 metres in the men’s hammer throw.

Sabah’s Nabil Faiz Ayub took silver with 50.25 metres, while Sarawak’s Solomon Guang Zhong Ng claimed bronze with 43.94 metres.
