SIBURAN: Serian FA secured a dramatic 2-0 victory over Samarahan FA in a thrilling Sarawak Premier League match played at Stadium MDS Siburan.
Despite Samarahan enjoying greater possession in the first half and creating several chances, they failed to find the breakthrough against Serian’s disciplined defence marshalled by Affyshahrul Affendi and Mackenzie Peter.
The second half saw Samarahan intensify their attacks but were again unable to convert a series of promising opportunities.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 84th minute when Mohamad Cairum Ridzuan Mohd Razi capitalised on a defensive error by Samarahan to slot home the opener for Serian.
Just a minute later, Paul Sambang doubled the lead with a shot that deflected off a Samarahan defender, sealing the win for Serian.
The late goals highlighted the composure and clinical finishing of head coach Edward Jamid Unting’s men, while Samarahan were left to rue missed chances despite dominating large spells of the match.
Serian now lead the standings in the Southern Zone with nine points.
