KUCHING: The dominance of the Sarawak Security and Enforcement Unit (UKPS) was undeniable as they emerged champions in both the men’s and women’s futsal categories at the One Team SCS Carnival, organised by the Sarawak Premier Department today.
In the men’s category, the final saw UKPS face off against the Sarawak State Secretary’s Office team.
Both sides displayed solid defensive performances in the first half, with no goals scored.
However, UKPS came alive in the second half with relentless attacks to secure a convincing 2-0 victory.
The win crowned UKPS as the men’s futsal champions, while the Sarawak State Secretary’s Office settled for second place.
The Human Resource Management and Development Unit (UPPSM) and the Internal Audit Unit (UAD) shared third place.
Also present at the final was Deputy State Secretary (Administration), Datuk Buckland Bangik, representing State Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, who presented the prizes to the winners.
Meanwhile, the women’s category also saw UKPS showcase their prowess, defeating the Sarawak Financial Secretary’s Office (SFS) in a penalty shootout after both teams ended regulation time goalless.
UKPS sealed a remarkable double by winning the shootout 2-1, thus being crowned women’s futsal champions.
The Sarawak Service Digitalisation Unit (SCSDU) and UPPSM shared third place in the category.
