KUCHING: The Tang Soo Do Samarahan Sarawak Association achieved outstanding success at the 30th National Tang Soo Do Championship 2025, proudly bringing glory to Sarawak with an impressive medal tally of 26 golds, 13 silvers, and 15 bronzes.
The team also emerged as the overall national champions in both the Primary Boys and Primary Girls categories, marking a historic double victory for Sarawak.
The prestigious championship was held from September 27 to 28, 2025, at SMK St Anthony, Teluk Intan, Perak, drawing Tang Soo Do practitioners from across East and West Malaysia to compete at the national level.
More than 30 athletes represented Tang Soo Do Samarahan Sarawak in two contingents, led by Master Kiu Chiong Inn and a team of senior instructors.
In its statement, the association said the delegation departed from Kuching International Airport to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA2), then continued by bus to the venue in Perak.
“The athletes returned home safely, proudly bearing their medals and championship titles.
“The association expressed heartfelt gratitude to Chong Chieng Jen, Stampin Member of Parliament and Padungan Assemblyman, for his strong support and encouragement.
“Chong personally arrived at Kuching International Airport at 5:30 am on September 26 to send off the team and presented a financial contribution to assist the association’s participation,” the statement read.
The association also extended sincere appreciation to Wilfred Yap Sau Sin, Kota Sentosa Assemblyman, for his financial contribution, which greatly supported the team’s journey to the championship.
“The athletes’ outstanding performance lived up to expectations and showcased the determination and fighting spirit of Sarawak’s Tang Soo Do practitioners.
“The Overall Champion (Primary Boys) title was awarded to Jeriel Lee Yong Ji from SJK Sam Hap Hin (Kuching 7th Mile, Kota Sentosa), while the Overall Champion (Primary Girls) title went to Queenie Michael from SJK Chung Hua Batu 10 (Kuching 10th Mile, Kota Padawan), both members of the Tang Soo Do Samarahan Sarawak team,” the statement added.
Tang Soo Do Samarahan Sarawak expressed deep gratitude to the national championship organisers, all supporting agencies, and parents who have continuously encouraged their children to train and grow in Tang Soo Do.
Through this martial art, students cultivate discipline, perseverance and self-confidence values that will serve them well in life.
The association also encouraged all members to continue striving for excellence and uphold the Tang Soo Do spirit of resilience and teamwork.
