MUKAH: Narcotics police arrested a local man on suspicion of possessing suspected methamphetamine during operations codenamed ‘Ops Tapis’ on Wednesday.
Mukah Police Chief, DSP Muhammad Rizal Alias, said the 32-year-old suspect was detained for inspections at around 12:15 pm in front of a house in Kampung Tellian Laut here.
“Further checks led to the discovery of a straw tube containing crystalline substances believed to be methamphetamine, weighing 0.30 grammes (g) and is valued at around RM110.
“Urine test later confirmed that he was positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine,” he said in a statement.
Both the suspect and seized drugs were taken to Mukah District Police Headquarters (IPD) for further actions.
Rizal pointed out that the suspect is being remanded for three days until October 18 to facilitate investigations under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
He assured that such operation will continue to curb substance abuse activities in the district.
