MIRI: Motorists here will have to plan their journeys ahead this Sunday (Oct 19), as several major roads in the city will be closed or diverted in conjunction with the Dynasty Charity Half Marathon 2025.
The event, organised by Dynasty Hotel Miri, will take place from 3 am to 8am, featuring three race categories — the 21 km half marathon, 10 km, and 4 km runs.
All routes will begin and end at Dynasty Hotel Miri.
According to Miri district police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah, traffic diversions and road closures will be implemented in phases to ensure the safety of participants and the smooth running of the event.
Roads involved in the marathon route include:
Jalan Miri-Pujut, Jalan Bintang, Jalan Kipas, Jalan Sylvia, Jalan Brooke, Jalan Kingsway, Jalan Padang, Jalan Kubu, Jalan Dato Abang Indeh, Jalan Brighton, Jalan Luak/Esplanade, and Jalan Melayu.
Meanwhile, the following junctions and traffic light intersections will be closed or diverted temporarily:
Parkson traffic lights, Jalan Bintang traffic lights, Kipas Roundabout, Jalan Sylvia traffic lights, Jalan Brooke traffic lights, KWSP Jalan Kubu traffic lights, Tanjung traffic lights, Luak traffic lights, Masjid Luak traffic lights, Jalan Aru and Jalan Aru 8, Marina 5/Jalan Brighton traffic lights, and Marina 3/Jalan Brighton traffic lights
Mohd Farhan urged road users to exercise patience and comply with traffic police instructions throughout the event period.
He also encouraged the public to plan their travel routes in advance to avoid unnecessary delays.
“The cooperation of all road users is crucial to ensure the safety of runners and the smooth execution of this charity event,” he said.
