KAPIT: Narcotics police arrested two men for allegedly possessing suspected drugs along Jalan Ulu Sungai Kapit yesterday (Oct 20).

Both suspects were spotted behaving suspiciously before they were detained for inspections.

Kapit district police headquarters (IPD) said a search led to the finding of a small plastic packet containing crystalline substances believed to be syabu weighing about 1g.

Initial urine tests also showed that both suspects tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine. Background checks found that one of them had three prior records related to drug offences.

The case is being investigated under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for possession and abusing drugs.

Kapit IPD assured that they take drug-related offences seriously and will not compromise with any individuals involved in such activities.

Members of the public are urged to report any information on drug activities in the district to assist police in curbing such activity.
