KOTA SAMARAHAN: Entrepreneurship has become one of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sarawak’s core values in shaping competitive and innovative talent who are able to thrive in today’s dynamic job market

In stating this, UiTM Sarawak Rector, Prof. Dr Firdaus Abdullah, said today’s entrepreneurs are innovators, value creators, and key contributors to community well-being.

“When more entrepreneurs are developed, more job opportunities are created, industries become more competitive, and both local and national economies progress,” he said in a speech delivered by Deputy Rector (Research and Industry Network), Prof. Ir Dr Juferi Idris.

Speaking at the opening of the PROTÉGÉ @ Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP) Carnival 2025 here on Saturday, he said that the university recognises the need to prepare graduates who are not solely job seekers but job creators who dare to explore business opportunities and embrace risks.

He added that through entrepreneurship programmes and exposure, UiTM aims to nurture graduates who are creative, adaptable and proactive in identifying opportunities that benefit the wider community.

The carnival, he said, supports this effort by providing real industry engagement through corporate exhibitions, government agency services, open interviews, entrepreneurship seminars, busker performances, and the Batik Sarong Fun Run.

“These are not merely entertainment or supplementary activities but platforms for genuine networking and learning that connect youth to industries and real entrepreneurial opportunities,” he said.

UiTM Sarawak, he noted, values its close cooperation with KUSKOP, believing that strong collaboration can support the development of an inclusive and sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem throughout Sarawak.

“We share the same aspiration with the government to build a progressive and resilient society ready to compete in the new economy era,” he added.
