SERIAN: A total of 551 participants have joined the Serian Eco Run International Cross Country Half Marathon 2025, held at Kampung Daha Kisau, here today (Oct 26).
Serian Division Deputy Resident Abdul Khalid Manap said the participants included runners from the United States, Belarus, South Africa, China, the Philippines, Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, and various parts of Sarawak.
He said the eco-tourism-themed event aimed to promote the natural beauty of this district, while also encouraging sportsmanship and a healthy lifestyle among the community.
He expressed hope that the Serian Eco Run would continue to be organised annually as one of Serian Division’s premier international sports tourism events.
“This is also a great achievement for the Serian Division in hosting a sports event of this scale, as it provides a platform to further promote Serian to the global audience,” he said during the event’s closing ceremony.
A total of RM32,400 in prize money was offered across various categories and race distances.
The categories contested included 21km International Men/Women, 21km Veteran Men/Women, 10km Open Men/Women, 10km International Men/Women, and 5km Student Boys/Girls.
In the competition results, Denis Jon emerged as the champion in the 21km Veteran Men category, while Lim Siet Fah won the 21km Veteran Women category. The 21km Open Men title went to Arikchely Ariyl.
Meanwhile, in the international category, Kenyan runner Kabul Teresiah won the 21km International Women’s title, while Denis Isika, also from Kenya, claimed victory in the 21km International Men’s category.
