KUCHING: A rock-solid defence has become Serian FA’s main weapon this season, with the team conceding just one goal across six matches in the 2025 Sarawak Premier League.

Serian’s only goal conceded came in their fourth match, a 4-1 away victory over PDRM at the UNIMAS Mini Stadium.

The commanding partnership of centre-backs Affyshahrul Affendi and Norman Ibrahim once again proved crucial in maintaining a clean sheet during their goalless draw against Kuching FA at Sarawak Stadium on Sunday night (Oct 26).

The formidable duo have become a nightmare for opposing strikers, allowing just a single goal throughout the team’s six outings so far.

Norman proud to guard home team’s backline.

For 38-year-old Norman, maintaining consistency and full commitment each time he takes the field remains his top priority.

The Serian-born defender expressed satisfaction with the unity and teamwork shown by both the management and his fellow defenders.

“We have only conceded one goal in six matches, and I think it’s something we should review and improve upon for the upcoming games.

“So far, I’m very pleased with the cooperation among my teammates, especially within our defensive line, as we continue to give our best for the team,” he said.

Norman also highlighted how his partnership with Affyshahrul has been key to their defensive strength, aided by tactical guidance from the coaching staff.

“Affy and I have played together for quite some time, so that chemistry helps a lot. Still, I believe we can raise our performance even further to help the team achieve better results.

“Of course, I hope we can maintain this defensive record until the end of the season,” he added.

Serian FA opened their campaign with a 4-0 home win over Sarikei FA at the Siburan Sports Complex, followed by a 3-0 away victory over Sri Aman FA at the Sri Aman Sports Complex.

Their third match produced another win, 2-0 at home against Samarahan FA.

Despite conceding their only goal in the 4-1 victory over PDRM, Serian continued their fine form with a narrow 1-0 home win against Betong FA, before holding Kuching FA to a goalless draw in their sixth outing.
