KUCHING: With a 4-1 first-leg advantage in hand, Kuching City FC head coach Aidil Sharin Sahak is focused on maintaining intensity and fitness as his squad prepares for Tuesday’s FA Cup quarter-final return leg against Terengganu FC.

Aidil said the team has a short turnaround before the second leg, which kicks off at 7.45 pm at the Sarawak State Stadium tomorrow (Oct 28).

“It’s only Tuesday, so we have just two days to recover and be fresh again. We’ll maximise what we can do to make sure the players are not over-fatigued and avoid injuries because the season is long.”

He added that rotation and readiness among the squad will be crucial for maintaining consistency across competitions.

“This is where I have to plan and see who can replace me and who needs to rest. The reserve players play a big part too, when they’re called upon, they have to be ready and show the same quality as the others.”

Despite the demanding schedule, the Singaporean coach emphasised that maintaining the right mindset is just as important as physical recovery.

“We’ll definitely see after the recovery session who’s fit and who’s not.

“We don’t want to overrun the players and risk injuries. The reserves must be ready whenever called upon,” he told reporters after Saturday’s 1-1 Super League draw with Penang FC.

The Cats take a commanding 4-1 lead into the second leg after a dominant performance at Terengganu’s Stadium Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin on October 18, where they capitalised on their finishing and pressing game.
