SIBU: Police arrested a local man who allegedly attacked his wife and daughter with a machete during a suspected domestic dispute at a house in Permai Jaya yesterday.
The incident is believed to have occurred at around 5 am when the couple’s 20-year-old daughter tried to intervene and was also hurt in the struggle.
Both victims — the 46-year-old woman and her daughter — sustained severe injuries and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
It is understood that the woman suffered deep wounds to her forehead and under her left armpit, while her daughter sustained injuries to the back of her head and right hand.

“The wife, who sustained critical injuries, is currently being treated in the Sibu Hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU), while the daughter sustained serious head injuries but is reported to be in stable condition,” he said.
A special task force was immediately formed to track down the suspect, who was successfully arrested in Kanowit later the same day at around 4.15 pm.
Zulkipli stated that the suspect will be remanded to facilitate further investigations under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt with a dangerous weapon.
Upon conviction, the offence carries a penalty of up to 20 years’ imprisonment, a fine, or whipping.
