KUCHING: Shell NXplorers programme inspires and encourages young minds to venture into science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) that drive the nation’s progress in this era.
Deputy Minister of Economy, Datuk Hanifah Taib, said STEM has long been a cornerstone of Malaysia’s national agenda that encourages curiosity, creativity, and problem solving among youth.
Moreover, it inspires young Malaysians to explore possibilities and build in the technologies that drive our nation’s progress.
“Our goal is to cultivate a generation that doesn’t merely apply formulas, but pioneer new ones.
“A generation that goes beyond consuming technologies to designing solutions that uplift communities and drive societal progress,” she said during the Shell NXplorers Malaysia National Awards at Hilton Hotel, on Saturday.


She added that within the 13th Malaysia Plan, one of its main priorities is to develop future-ready talent with the skills and creativity needed to lead and practise in a rapidly changing world.
This includes expanding digital infrastructure in schools, while ensuring equal access to education for all.
“The government also remains deeply committed to strengthening STEM education.
“The goal is to nurture innovators who will help Malaysia move forward to a high-income, green, and knowledge-based economy,” said Hanifah.
In regards to Shell NXplorers programme, she highlighted the competition turns this national inspiring into reality.
“It connects the classroom with the real world, showing how learning can lead to opportunities, innovation, and positive change.

“By working on projects that address energy, food, and sustainability, our students are discovering that science is not only about textbooks, but about solving problems that matter.”
Teams who competed at the Shell NXplorers impressed Hanifah with their insight of problem-solving skills that addresses everyday concerns that may have been overlook.
“I am impressed and grateful of all the students’ insight of suggesting problems-solving that addresses everyday concerns that we ourselves may overlook.
“Please carry on the inspiration effects and continue to explore more problem-solving solutions.
“To the teachers and mentors here today, thank you for your dedication and passion. You are more than educators. You are the spark that inspires curiosity, confidence, and perseverance in your students.
“To all young explorers, remember that your journey has only just begun. The projects you have created are ideas with the power to transform lives,” she said.
