Two arrested in drug raid, one caught with 5.5g of syabu

DARO: Narcotics police arrested two local men for alleged substance abuse during an operation codenamed ‘Ops Tapis Khas’ last Saturday (Nov 1).

Daro police chief DSP Rahim Mihos said the suspects were caught following raids on two unnumbered houses.

“Police managed to recover 5.50g of drugs believed to be syabu from the first house, while no seizures were made at the second location.

“Both suspects were taken to the police station for urine screenings, which returned positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine,” he said.

He said the first suspect is being investigated under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries imprisonment of up to five years, and up to nine strokes of the cane

As both tested positive for drugs, they will be investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries a fine of up to RM5,000 or a jail term of up to two years.

Rahim assured that police take drug-related offences seriously and will not compromise with such activities.

He urged the public to report any information on drug activities in the district by contacting Matu Daro district police headquarters (IPD) at 084-823222.
