KOTA SAMARAHAN: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) celebrated a total of 575 Bachelor’s Degree graduates during the third session of its 29th Convocation Ceremony held earlier today (Nov 4).
The session saw the conferment of degrees to 255 graduates from the Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts, and 320 graduates from the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology.
The declaration of the 29th Convocation during the third session was officiated by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who is also the UNIMAS Pro-Chancellor.
In addition, the session featured the presentation of the Yayasan Sarawak Outstanding Graduate Award and Academic Awards in two categories — Bumiputera and Non-Bumiputera.
For the Bumiputera category, the award recipient was Scholastica Antonia Steven from Miri, who graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. She achieved a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.82 and received the Dean’s Award eight times throughout her studies.
Meanwhile, for the Non-Bumiputera category, the prestigious award was presented to Natalie Sia Xin Ying from Kuching. She completed her Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honours) at the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology with a perfect CGPA of 4.00 and received the Dean’s Award seven times during her academic journey.
The 29th UNIMAS Convocation celebrates a total of 4,100 graduates who obtained their respective qualifications across various levels of study, including Doctor of Philosophy, Master’s Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, and Postgraduate Diploma in Education.
Present at the ceremony were Chairman of the UNIMAS Board of Directors, Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Sulong Matjeraie, and UNIMAS Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr Ahmad Hata Rasit.
