SEBUYAU: Silat must continue to be strengthened as a cultural heritage and a means to shape the character and identity of the younger generation.
Utility and Telecommunication Minister, Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi, said silat tournaments play an important role in nurturing a generation that is not only skilled in the arena but also disciplined, moral and patriotic.
“Silat is not merely a sport but a cultural legacy that must be preserved. Through championships like this, we can produce exponents who are agile, well-mannered and patriotic,” he said.
He said this when officiating at the closing of the YB Dato Sri Haji Julaihi bin Haji Narawi Invitational Silat Tanding Championship 2025 at the Sebuyau Development Hall on Sunday.
The Sebuyau state assemblyman hoped the tournament would continue as an annual event to produce more high-quality young exponents in the years ahead.
