KUCHING: The Centre for Technology Excellence Sarawak (CENTEXS), with Yayasan Sarawak and support from Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD), has launched the Discover CENTEXS 2025 Boot Camp to develop a future-ready workforce for Sarawak.
The three-day, two-night programme is part of the state’s Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, designed to build a skilled talent pipeline to support Sarawak’s ambition of achieving a high-income and sustainable economy by 2030.
Ruhazlina Syam Abdol Hazis, head of department for Partnership Management & Business Development at CENTEXS HQ, said that the boot camp provides university students with a unique opportunity to explore technical careers while aligning with the state’s broader digital economic goals.
“The boot camp elevates participants from students to future contributors actively engaged in Sarawak’s digital economic growth,” she said, highlighting the programme’s focus on emotional intelligence, interpersonal skills, and industry engagement to minimise skill gaps.
The programme features two main modules: Emerging Technologies & Trends, covering AI, IoT, and Big Data applications; and Tech Leadership & Emotional Intelligence, which uses concepts from competitive gaming to teach problem-solving, adaptability and communication under pressure.

Graduates will receive the prestigious Tech-Driven Leaders (TDL) Certificate.
Participants will also experience glamping-style accommodation provided by Borneo Glamping, designed to encourage teamwork, sustainability and community living.
CEO Shenton Tan noted that the collaboration bridges education, innovation and tourism for youth development.
“We want students to discover how glamping can be part of Sarawak’s sustainable tourism future, while also exploring the opportunities that CENTEXS provides for their post-graduate journey,” he said.
The Discover CENTEXS 2025 Boot Camp is seen as a strategic investment in Sarawak’s human capital, equipping young talents with the technical skills and leadership mindset necessary to drive the state toward its PCDS 2030 objectives.
