KUCHING: A 26-year-old man was ordered by the Magistrates’ Court to enter into a six-month good behaviour bond with RM500 bail (without deposit) for damaging a woman’s Toyota Vios in Kampung Senari, Bako, last October.

The men, identified as Selamat, pleaded for leniency after a charge under Section 67 of the Criminal Procedure Code was read before Magistrate Nursyaheeqa Nazwa Radzali.

Based on the case facts, the 23-year-old complainant lodged a police report stating that a commotion broke out involving several villagers at 9:00 pm on October 23, which resulted in damages to her vehicle.

Selamat was identified as one of the individuals involved and was suspected of kicking, punching and striking the complainant’s car door, causing an estimated RM5,000 in losses.

Following discussions between both parties, he agreed to compensate the complainant for the repairs.

Investigations later revealed that the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding between them, and the damages caused was not intentional.

It was further understood that the complainant and her sibling had gone to the sibling’s former in-laws’ house to retrieve important documents, which triggered the incident involving several villagers.

Selamat is also known to be a friend of the sibling’s ex-husband.

Deputy Public Prosecutor, Muhammad Afiq Safly Nor Kazly, prosecuted the case, while Selamat was unrepresented.
