BANGKOK: The Malaysian delegation has conducted a benchmarking visit to several competition venues here to assess Thailand’s readiness as the host of the 2025 SEA Games.
The visit involved representatives from the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM), Malaysia SEA Games Organising Committee (MASOC), and delegations from Sarawak, Johor, and Penang, focusing on facility standards, tournament management, and venue suitability.
Coordinated by the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), the delegation was divided according to sports clusters to conduct specific assessments at each location.
The Sarawak delegation was led by Deputy State Secretary (Operations) Datuk Hii Chang Kee.

Also present were Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak Morshidi Frederick and other government officials.
The venues visited included the Aquatics (Swimming) venue at the SAT Swimming Pool, archery at Football Field 1, SAT, and shooting (Rifle) at the SAT Shooting Range.
The group also visited the SEA Games Sports Centre to review the workspace of the Thailand 2025 SEA Games Secretariat.
For the Johor group, the delegation visited the football venue in Bang Kapi at the Rajamangala National Stadium. They also travelled to Bang Bo to observe field operations and facilities for the Equestrian (Polo) competition at VS Sports Club / Siam Polo Park.
For the MASOC and Penang group, the delegation visited Bang Kapi to review the cycling venue at the Hua Mark Velodrome.
The delegation then proceeded to Pathum Wan to inspect the boxing venue at Chulalongkorn University.
The Penang group also visited Bang Yai to review the table tennis venue at Central Westgate / Westgate Hall.
The purpose of these venue visits is to provide the Malaysian delegation with direct exposure to international-standard facilities and venue operations, helping the country prepare thoroughly for hosting the 2027 SEA Games in Malaysia.
The Thailand 2025 SEA Games are scheduled to take place from Dec 9 to 20, featuring 50 sports.
