BINTANGOR: Three major projects under the Rajang Delta Development Agency (RADDA) in this town are expected to be tendered early next year.
The three projects include the riverbank upgrading project, a two-storey community hall, and the Bintangor swimming pool.
Meradong state assemblyman, Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing, said these projects are part of ongoing efforts to improve public facilities and infrastructure in the district.
“The Bintangor Riverfront Project will have a positive impact on local development but during construction, the area may not be accessible,” he said when met by the media at the Bintangor Riverfront recently.
He also said that non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and the District Office will need to search for a suitable temporary location to host the Meradong Festival during the construction and upgrading period.
Ding explained that the Bintangor Riverfront project is estimated to cost RM35 million and is expected to enhance the attractiveness of the riverbank area for tourists and local residents.
Additionally, he said, the two-storey Bintangor Community Hall is expected to be tendered next year and will provide a multipurpose space for community activities and official events.
As for the Bintangor swimming pool, he said it is in the final design stage, with land for the project already acquired, and is expected to provide modern recreational facilities for the community, especially youths and families.
He added that another important project is the construction of an alternative road from Bintangor to Sungai Tulai costing RM77 million, based on a proposal by Sarikei Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii, which is hoped to reduce traffic congestion on the existing route.
“All these projects are part of RADDA’s efforts to ensure that local development is implemented in an integrated manner and benefits both residents and visitors,” he explained.
He said that RADDA is committed to ensuring that these projects are completed smoothly, safely and capable of improving the quality of life for the Bintangor community.
