SPAOH: A total of RM16.2 million has been approved for the construction of a new health clinic here, which will be equipped with modern facilities, including a haemodialysis centre.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas thanked the Ministry of Health for the allocation, noting that the facility is essential for residents in Spaoh and nearby areas to enhance the community’s overall health and well-being.
“With the establishment of this haemodialysis centre, the people will no longer need to travel far to receive treatment.
“This is a pressing need that has finally been realised,” he said when officiating the groundbreaking ceremony for the Spaoh Health Clinic and Haemodialysis Centre project recently.
Uggah added that the Betong Division Development Agency (BDDA) will contribute an additional RM20 million, bringing the total project cost to RM36.2 million.
He also announced plans to upgrade Betong Hospital to specialist-level services, enabling faster treatment for emergency cases that previously required referrals to Sarikei, Sri Aman or Kuching.
The groundbreaking event marks the beginning of a major healthcare development project in Spaoh, offering renewed hope for residents in Spaoh and the wider Betong Division.
