KUCHING: Senari Synergy Sdn Bhd (SSSB) and Perbadanan Memajukan Iktisad Negeri Terengganu (PMINT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) yesterday (Nov 19) to jointly explore energy and power generation opportunities in Terengganu.

The MoU was signed by Senari Synergy group managing director Datuk Jefri Ahmad Tambi and PMINT chief executive officer Datuk Wan Adnan Wan Derahman.

The ceremony was witnessed by the Chief Minister of Terengganu and PMINT chairman, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, and SSSB chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Datuk Husain.

This partnership highlights the spirit of cooperation between Sarawak and Terengganu in advancing Malaysia’s energy transformation agenda under the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR).

It reflects a strong collaboration between the two states in accelerating the development of sustainable energy solutions, downstream value creation, and human capital growth.

The collaboration also demonstrates Sarawak’s commitment to sharing its energy

expertise and successful development models, while supporting Terengganu in

realising its industrial and clean energy aspirations in creating a win-win pathway for

both states.

Ahmad Samsuri said the collaboration is expected to generate new economic opportunities for Terengganu, particularly in creating jobs for local talent.

“We hope this partnership will open up more employment opportunities, including a target of around 1,000 jobs for the people of Terengganu.

“Our priority is to ensure that the local communities benefit directly from the development of a sustainable and future-ready energy industry,” he said in a joint statement issued by SSSB and PMINT yesterday (Nov 19).

Meanwhile, Abdul Aziz stated that Sarawak has benefited greatly from its journey in developing energy infrastructure and industrial ecosystems.

“We are proud to share this experience with our partners in Terengganu. Not as a

transfer, but as an exchange of strengths and ideas.

“This collaboration is a symbol of how Malaysians states can uplift one another while driving the nation towards global energy excellence,” he said.

The MoU marks the beginning of joint initiatives in energy generation, renewable

energy development, infrastructure enhancement, and investment facilitation, with

both parties committed to supporting Malaysia’s transition toward a low-carbon, high-value economy.

Through this strategic partnership, Sarawak and Terengganu reaffirm their shared

commitment to collaboration, innovation, and national progress— setting a strong

example of how state-to-state cooperation can power-up Malaysia’s sustainable energy future.
