KUCHING: A fully digitalised application system for the Endowment Fund Sarawak (EFS) and Post-Natal Assistance (BIB) will be launched in 2026, significantly cutting processing times and eliminating the need for face-to-face verification.

Announcing the upgrade, Minister of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development (KPWK), Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, said that the system, developed by Sarawak Information Systems Sdn Bhd (SAINS) will be accessible through the website sarawak.gov.my and integrated with Sarawak Pass.

“With the new system, applicants no longer need to visit banks, KPWK, or the Registration Department. Everything can be completed online,” she said during a media session on the EFS initiative at Baitulmakmur II today.

The new platform will cut EFS processing time from 3-6 months to one month, while BIB approval, previously 2-3 months, will drop to one week.

“This system will make the process easier, faster and more transparent. We hope this will further increase our participation rate beyond 85 per cent,” Fatimah said.

The upgrade will especially assist Sarawakians living outside the state.

“Previously they had to return home for verification, but now the system can verify automatically through K-status and banking data,” she explained.

Fatimah said that rural users will also benefit as connectivity expands statewide.

“Some areas already use Starlink, so applications can still be made online,” she said.

The RM450 BIB assistance remains available to mothers or fathers with K-status to support postnatal recovery and newborn needs.
