KUCHING: Educare Wonderland earned praise for offering children a creative and informal learning environment that nurtures curiosity, builds confidence and promotes personal growth.
Women, Childhood and Community Well-being Development Minister, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, said the programme allows children to explore their interests and learn at their own pace, far beyond the limits of a traditional classroom.
“Unlike formal settings, this environment gives children the freedom to follow their interests and learn at their own pace,” she said during its opening at Tropic City today.
Reflecting on her experiences with formal education, Fatimah noted the impact of experiential learning on children’s development.
“This kind of learning can shape values and character, maybe more than what can be achieved in a classroom,” she said.
She also highlighted the importance of mentoring.
“When children learn from peers or mentors, they develop confidence, learn to communicate clearly and pick up skills like public speaking much faster than in traditional lessons,” Fatimah said.
The minister emphasised the importance of early childhood in nurturing communication skills.
“Encouraging children to ask questions, propose ideas and explore creatively helps them develop essential life skills,” she said.
Educare Wonderland also offered children a stage to display their talents in music, dance and other creative activities.
“Some of these activities are not just fun. They are therapeutic and build confidence,” she added.
“The best learning method is a fun way. Children are more eager to come to school when learning feels like play.”
