A TOTAL of 44 bullying cases were recorded in Sarawak based on police data, said Deputy Minister of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Datuk Rosey Yunus recorded in Sarawak from January to October this year.
To eradicate bullying and risky behaviour, Rosey said the government continues to adopt a whole-of-community and whole-of-government approach in managing, reporting and preventing bullying and risky behaviours among children and adolescents.

At the national level, she said the Ministry of Education (MoE) Malaysia has issued the Garis Panduan Pengurusan Salah Laku Buli, which provides schools with clear reporting channels, referral processes and responsibilities when handling bullying cases.
“MoE Malaysia and the State Education Department are monitoring bullying cases and the delinquent behaviours among students through disciplinary records in the Ministry of Education Integrated System (MoEIS).
“At the state level, our ministry strengthens prevention efforts through community-based and research-informed programmes under the Sarawak Social Development Council, in line with the Post-Covid Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 Social Inclusivity aspiration.
“These programmes raise awareness, building protective environments and equip families, educators and communities with knowledge to recognise early warning signs,” she said in reply to Batu Lintang assemblyman See Chee How during the question-and-answer at the DUN sitting today.
In addition, she said the Sarawak Education Department has implemented various intervention programmes which include disciplinary management workshop for school senior assistants for students’ affair; disciplinary management workshop for discipline teachers and counselling teachers; legal literacy workshops for school senior assistants, school leaders and counsellors; meetings with the police department twice a year and ‘No Bully’ campaign in schools.
“Meetings, briefings on discipline issues and intervention programmes to the deputy district education officer are also conducted, with an achievement dialogue on discipline cases with the district education officers and their deputies.
“Talks on discipline and bullies for students and townhall sessions on bullies have also been organised for parent-teacher associations,” she said.
Rosey, who is the Bekenu assemblywoman, said the ministry has implemented community interventions to address social issues in Sarawak.
These interventions include Kesedaran dan Advokasi Pendidikan Seksual (KAPS), which has successfully completed 78 series across secondary schools in Sarawak since 2016; Randau Pembangunan Sosial with 29 series since 2019; and Operasi Bersepadu Isu Dadah (OBID) with 1,877 series since 2018.
