PADAWAN: Police arrested a local man for attempting to rob a woman at the parking lot in front of Sentosa Parade shophouse, Jalan Penrissen yesterday.
The incident happened at around 6:40 pm when the 27-year-old suspect reportedly entered the victim’s vehicle and tried to strangle her.
Fearing for her life, the 39-year-old victim honked her car horn, which prompted the suspect to flee the scene.
A police report was later filed for further action.
The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) launched an immediate operation and arrested the suspect by 1:00 am today.
Also seized was the vehicle used in the attempted robbery.
The case is being investigated under Section 393 of the Penal Code for attempted robbery, which carries up to seven years’ imprisonment and a fine.
