KUCHING: Proton’s All-New Saga has racked up over 20,000 bookings nationwide — including more than 600 from Proton Supernau — underscoring strong demand as the model enters the Sarawak market.

Supernau Motors owner and director Gary Quek Kuan Yong said the surge reflects Sarawakians’ confidence in both the brand and the dealership group.

“The people have spoken.

The response has been nothing short of historic.

Proton received over 20,000 bookings nationwide in less than a month, and we have already secured over 600 bookings,” he said at the launch of the All-New Saga at Supernau Motors Trading Sdn Bhd (Kuching) yesterday.

He said the launch marks a significant milestone in Supernau’s 14-year journey, which began with a single Bintulu outlet in 2011 before expanding to Kuching, Mukah, Sarikei, Kota Samarahan, Sri Aman and soon, Moyan.

“It started with a single showroom and a big dream in Bintulu.

From that foundation, fuelled by the trust of the Sarawak community, we grew.

“Each new outlet represented a new chapter of trust and a new community welcomed into our family,” he said.

Quek noted that Proton Supernau Bintulu was recognised as the nationwide highest Saga registration outlet in 2018 — a testament to customer trust, which he said remains the group’s core driver.

“This trust is what drives us.

With these attractive packages and the phenomenal All-New Saga, we are ready to deliver not just a car, but a fantastic ownership experience to every customer in Sarawak,” he added.

He said Proton had “rebirthed an icon” by redesigning the Saga around four pillars symbolising its name: Impressive Performance, Comprehensive Safety, Optimised Intelligence and Next-Generation Style.

“This new Saga is more than just an upgrade. It is a complete reimagination of what our beloved icon can be,” he said.

Powered by an i-GT 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine with DVVT technology, the model features nine ADAS functions, six airbags, reinforced Proton RESS parts and a “protective cocoon” of safety features.

It also offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto paired with a 16-inch integrated dual screen.

“Your digital life and your drive become one,” he said, calling the model a symbol of Proton’s renewed momentum.

“This is more than a new car.

It is the embodiment of Proton’s growth, your unwavering trust, and our shared future on the roads of Sarawak,” he added.

The All-New Saga comes in three variants — 1.5 Standard, 1.5 Executive and 1.5 Premium — available in Space Grey, Marine Blue, Armour Silver, Snow White and Ruby Red.

Prices range from RM40,990 to RM51,990 on the road, without insurance.

Proton has fitted the model with 35 new features valued at RM12,000 in perceived benefits, including the most ADAS functions in an entry-level car.

To support early buyers, Proton is offering launch benefits until Dec 31, 2025.

These include a RM1,000 rebate, a five-year or 150,000km Pro-Warranty with three free labour services, overtrade support of up to RM1,500 under Pro-Trade-In and RM2,000 under Pro-Xchange, financing rates from 2.6 per cent, and Pro-Shield insurance with special perils and flood relief coverage of up to RM2,000.
