SARATOK: Electrical supply to 10 premises suspected of running illegal gambling activities has been cut under a joint enforcement push by the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) and SESCO.
The action followed more than 24 inspections carried out across Saratok between June and November this year under ‘Ops Dadu Khas’, an ongoing operation targeting illegal gambling dens.
Saratok police chief DSP Mathew Maggie said the affected premises were found to be suspected of committing offences under the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.
“Cutting their power supply is one of the measures allowed under Section 21A of the same Act to cripple illegal gambling operations.
“Enforcement efforts — carried out with SESCO — are aimed at disrupting gambling networks and denying offenders the means to continue their activities,” he said.
Mathew stated that they remain committed to combating gambling and other crimes through continuous operations, strategic intelligence gathering, and community cooperation.
He assured that police would continue to strengthen enforcement efforts to ensure a safe environment, free from crime and immoral activities.
