KUCHING: Festive cheer filled the air at Kompleks Satria Pertiwi as MAKSAK Sarawak Women Wing spread Christmas joy to 100 students from underprivileged B40 families yesterday (Dec 2).
The students, from 10 primary schools — SK St Thomas, SK St Mary, SK Tabuan, SK Astana, SK Muara Tebas, SK Bandar Semariang, SK Semerah Padi, SJK (C) Chung Hua Sungai Buda, SJK Chung Hua Bau, and SK Jagoi — each received RM100, totalling RM10,000 in cash donations.
In addition, two parent–teacher associations (PTA) were also presented with RM500 each, while goodies worth RM5,000 were handed out to add extra festive cheer.
Gracing the event was MAKSAK Sarawak Women Patron Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, where she personally handed out the donations, bringing smiles to the young recipients.
In her speech, MAKSAK Sarawak Women Wing chairperson Datin Amar Baduyah Bujang said the annual programme aimed to nurture the spirit of giving among the community.
“Christmas is indeed a time of giving and rejoicing. It invites us to open our hearts and reflect on our blessings. Today, we witness the remarkable spirit of generosity.
“Let our school children learn and embody this essence of giving. Seeing us share the love and kindness will remind them of the simple joys that define this season,” she said during the MAKSAK Sarawak Women Christmas Welfare Programme.
Baduyah also thanked Fauziah for her dedication to welfare programmes, saying her presence inspires others to share and uplift one another during this special time of year.
The event not only brightened the festive season for the students but also showcased how generosity can uplift underprivileged communities.
