KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has climbed into Asia’s top three cheapest year-end flight markets, with fares on some routes falling to RM37 domestically and RM103 for international travel, based on new booking data from online travel agency, Agoda.
The platform’s analysis, covering bookings made from September 1 to November 19 for departures between December 20 to 31, places Malaysia alongside Thailand and South Korea in the region’s most affordable domestic bracket.
It noted that the Bario–Miri route is listed at RM37, tying with Jeju–Seoul at the same fare, while Thailand leads the list with Udon Thani–Bangkok at RM25.
“Malaysia also features strongly in cross-border travel.
“The Johor Bahru–Phuket and Pontianak–Kuching routes, both starting from RM103, rank as the region’s lowest international fares for the period.
“These are followed by Krabi–Kuala Lumpur at RM115 and other low-cost routes across South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam and India,” it said.
Commenting on this, Agoda Country Director for Malaysia and Brunei Fabian Teja said the peak travel season continues to drive demand for low-cost options.
“Year-End is the busiest time for travel, with many planning to reconnect with loved ones or enjoy a well-deserved break.
“No one should miss out on a joyful season, and with our extensive flight network and a wide array of budget friendly travel options, Agoda is helping travelers find the best deals to make their holidays both memorable and affordable,” he said.
On top of that, he shared that Agoda hosts more than 130,000 flight routes, over 6 million holiday properties and more than 300,000 activities, which travellers can combine in single bookings.
