KOTA KINABALU, Sabah: Kinabatangan Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, who was also the Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) Chairman, passed away at a private hospital at 1:46 am today. He was 66.
His son, Naim Kurniawan Moktar, told reporters this when contacted this morning, but he did not elaborate on the cause of his father’s death.
“Please pray that his soul is blessed with mercy and placed among the righteous. Al-Fatihah,” said Naim Kurniawan, who is Bung Moktar’s second child.
Bung Moktar, who was also the Lamag state assemblyman, was earlier admitted to the hospital, and among those who had visited him was the Yang Dipertua Negeri, Tun Musa Aman.
In the recent 17th Sabah State Election, Bung Moktar retained the Lamag seat with a majority of 153 votes in a six-cornered fight, having won the seat at the previous state polls.
He won the Kinabatangan parliamentary seat in the 10th General Election in November 1999, and he served as the constituency’s Member of Parliament for six terms.
Born on September 15, 1959, in Sukau, Kinabatangan, he leaves behind his two wives, Datin Seri Nor Asidah Alimuddin and Datin Seri Zizie Izette Abdul Samad, and seven children. – BERNAMA
