SERIAN: A 55-year-old man was killed in a three-vehicle accident near SK Telagus, Jalan Balai Ringin on Monday (Dec 8).
He was travelling in a Toyota Avanza MPV with three others when the collision with a Proton Saga sedan and a Proton X50 SUV occurred at around 1.20pm.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) confirmed that the victim was one of the Avanza’s occupants, though it has yet to be determined whether he was the driver or a passenger.
The other three occupants of the Avanza—a man, a woman and a boy—sustained injuries and were taken to hospital. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known.
Meanwhile, five people from the Saga and X50—two men and three women—suffered minor injuries.
Firefighters from the Serian station were deployed to the scene, about 47km away, and provided first aid to the injured Saga and X50 occupants before securing the area.
Once the situation was deemed safe, the operation ended at 3.26pm.
The cause of the accident is under police investigation.
