KUALA LUMPUR: In less than two years, iGreenWarriors, the flagship environmental movement of JCI Entrepreneur Metropolitan (JCI E-Metro), has emerged as one of Malaysia’s fastest-growing youth-driven sustainability initiatives, expanding its impact from local communities to nationwide collaborations.
In a statement today, JCI E-Metro said that the movement has mobilised thousands of volunteers across Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Perak, Terengganu, Melaka, and Johor, as well as with regional partners in Thailand, making climate action accessible to communities of all ages since its establishment in 2024.
Through large-scale tree-planting programmes, marine conservation clean-ups, circular economy workshops, environmental, social and governance (ESG) education, and biodiversity restoration activities, the movement has planted over 300,000 trees and removed tonnes of waste from coastal areas.
Additionally, iGreenWarriors has empowered schools, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), local councils, and youth groups to participate actively in meaningful environmental action.
“A key driver behind the movement’s expansion is the Green Entrepreneurs Programme, a platform designed to equip young Malaysians with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities to build sustainable, climate-focused enterprises,” the statement read.
By nurturing youth innovation, JCI-E Metro said the programme empowers aspiring eco-entrepreneurs to design practical solutions, lead community projects, and contribute directly to Malaysia’s green economy transition.
In their collaborations, iGreenWarriors works closely with government bodies, environmental NGOs, universities, and corporate sustainability teams to create long-term, measurable impact.
“Key initiatives include restoring degraded forest reserves, driving zero-waste education in schools, supporting community farms, empowering youth climate champions, and advancing carbon reduction awareness programmes nationwide,” said JCI-E Metro in the statement.
According to JCI E-Metro, iGreenWarriors’ impactful efforts led to significant accolades this year, including being ranked among the Top 3 in the world at the 2025 JCI World Congress, making it the only project from the Asia and Pacific region to achieve this distinction.
Additionally, the movement won the 2025 ESG Plus Environmental Sustainability Award (Climate Action & Carbon Reduction), cementing its position as a national leader in grassroots climate action, said JCI-E Metro. – BERNAMA
