KUCHING: The Spring Shopping Mall concluded its month-long ‘Pink It Up!’ campaign in October, bringing together shoppers, healthcare partners and local organisations to raise awareness on breast cancer – the leading cancer affecting women in Sarawak.

Held in partnership with Perbena Emas Sdn Bhd and PE Land Sdn Bhd, the campaign supported the Sarawak Breast Cancer Support Group (SBCSG), which provides care, resources and emotional assistance to patients and survivors.

“A key highlight of the campaign was the sale of the limited-edition ‘Pink It Up!’ pins, which invited shoppers to show solidarity while unlocking special rewards from participating tenants.

“Part of the proceeds was channelled directly to SBCSG, and by the end of the month, The Spring Kuching and its sister mall in Bintulu had together raised over RM8,500 from pin sales in support of the group,” The Spring said in a statement.

According to the statement, shoppers dressed in pink received complimentary awareness pins, while the ‘Pink It Up! Fitness Fest’ – held in collaboration with Level Up Fitness – offered group fitness classes and a mini-HYROX challenge with TRAIN ME Private Coaching.

The fitness activities raised an additional RM7,000 for SBCSG.

On weekends, Klinik Uptown, the National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM) and the National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN) provided free clinical breast examinations and basic health screenings.

Visitors also experienced ‘The Pink Journey’, an installation at the mall’s Centre Court that highlighted the importance of self-breast checks while sharing messages of hope and resilience.

The campaign was further supported by What About Kuching (WAK) through The Pink Market, which encouraged more community participation.

Throughout October, The Spring featured a ‘Survivor Stories’ series on its social media platforms, sharing personal journeys from SBCSG members to inspire strength and early detection.

The Spring said ‘Pink It Up!’ aimed to foster greater compassion, awareness and support for breast cancer patients and survivors, while encouraging the public to prioritise their health and well-being.
